EU Commission Presents Template
The EU Commission is getting serious about transparency: A new, standardized template is designed to guide AI model providers in disclosing the origin of their training data – a cornerstone of the AI Regulation (AI Act).
1. What Does the New Template Contain?
On July 24, 2025, the European Commission published a highly anticipated template. It serves as a model for general-purpose AI model providers to fulfill a central requirement of the EU AI Regulation.
According to the Commission, the template should represent a 'simple, uniform, and effective method' to increase transparency.
2. Why Is This Template So Important?
Until now, there has been very limited information about the data volumes used to train large AI models.
Strengthening Rights Holders
The summary should make it easier for copyright holders in particular to exercise their rights under EU law.
